SARAH LIAN- THE WOMAN. THE ACTRESS. THE HOST
In the entertainment industry, there isn’t much that Sarah can’t do. With a dazzling personality, Sarah exudes confidence in a sexy, sultry way that captivates her audience, leaving them clamoring for more.
It isn’t easy being a natural in front of the camera, but this woman’s talent flows onto the screen effortlessly. Bubbly, easy-going and a borderline goofball, her zest of life is filled with her passion for acting, food (durian being her favourite) and her friendships and family ties.
Never one to turn down a volleyball game, Sarah keeps her trim figure in shape with an active fitness lifestyle. In between projects, she can found wakeboarding, running, or doing a quick cardio session at the gym.
Born into a multilingual country and moving abroad, it is no surprise that Sarah speaks a variety of languages. While proficient in English, Sarah also speaks Hokkien, Cantonese, Mandarin, Malay, French and a smattering of Japanese.
Although she grew up in Canada, Malaysia has and always will be home to Sarah. Returning in 2007 with an ambition and dream of breaking into the Asian entertainment industry, her vision is becoming a reality as the name Sarah Lian gains momentum in the Malaysian entertainment scene.
HER PAST
Taiping born, Sarah; of Malaysian Chinese parentage, moved to Canada, where at the age of 10, discovered her taste for the world of show business and entertainment while performing at local theatre productions.
Destined for the spotlight, her involvement in numerous stage productions also included the Asian-centric premiere version of Sex in Vancouver produced by the Vancouver Asian Canadian Theatre. The experiences she gained laid the solid foundation that made working with various crews across Canada and USA a natural fit.
Shifting from stage to television, Sarah was seen in Home and Garden Network (HGTV)’s newly launched series Mansions as the stern designer in their pilot episode, during the Fall ’08 line up.
In 2007, she landed her first movie credit as the “Hot Asian Girl” in American Pie 6: Beta House and continued her hosting abilities in UTOURS, a show about student life at Canada’s Top 20 Universities.
Sarah also has a range of commercials under her belt from big brands in various countries: McCafe (HK), Adidas’ Women’s FIFA 2003 (Worldwide), Cadbury (Malaysia), Tic Tac (Singapore) just to name a few. This also includes working on all Whisper Malaysia’s informercial campaigns over the past 4 years.
HER PRESENT
Receiving the title as Malaysia’s Most Wanted Woman in 2008 by FHM Malaysia escalated Sarah to a new level of fame, landing her on the covers of Stuff, FHM Malaysia, Malaysian College and Clive and features in magazines like Cleo, Women’s Weekly, Men’s Health, FACES, HOT, New Tide (chinese), Sisters (chinese) and KLue.
Sarah is a host who rarely shy’s away from the camera. Her presence exudes sublime confidence and wit, where it will be put to good use as she will be hosting reality show-Maybelline’s Simply Fabulous on 8TV. After co-hosting 8TV’s The Ultimate Prom Nite 2, the wacky reality college/university show (aired in mid-November 2008), she’ll be charming her way to audiences once again.
She made her silver screen debut as a writer and host of NTV7’s new informative show NUVO. Working closely with clients, media agencies and advertising agencies, Sarah participated in the industry as a formidable player, conceptualising the process of entertainment-driven content for her audience.
She inaugurated her presence at Media Prima’s online portal Gua.com.my with a spoof news comedy at The Gua Centre’s Second Season and event coverage program Randommania.
Not a stranger to the event scene, Sarah has proven to be a sought after emcee only after a few months of residing in Malaysia, working at large scale events such as Artistry: Global Art of Mixing, R.AGE Campus Dodgeball Championship, FHM Girls Next Door 2009, and with brands such as Breitling, Tang+Co, Bebe, and Nivea.
She has also been invited to present an award at the 2009 Shout Awards; to speak as a panelist in Whisper’s Come Clean -Have a Happy Period campaign; to lend her expertise as a judge for Veet: Miss Veet Standout Challenge 2009 and Ruumz: Most Wanted Ruummate 2009; and to contribute in 8TV’ Newbies: World AIDS Day Awareness Campaign and GuaTV: Earth Hour Campaign.
HER FUTURE
Sarah Lian is an actor that is versatile in film, television and theatre. She has embarked an entertainment career that spans across North America and Asia, and she will continue to challenge new boundaries and expectations.
With upcoming projects and music videos with local indie pop group Seven Collar T-Shirt and hip-hop Malaysian star Joe Flizzow lined up for 2009, Sarah has further slated shows in the pipelines both locally and regionally.
She intends to hit regional markets such as Hong Kong and Singapore by the end of the year working on her acting in film and television.
