I took a quick flight to HK for the official launch of Ask Ting Ting, the travel guide I had shot earlier this March. With the attendance of many friends in the hospitality and tourism industry, Kee Club was the perfect size to host our launch. I was able to speak to a few hotels who are part of the growing roster who will provide this service to tourists in Hong Kong. So far, Le Meridien Cyberport, CHI Residences and the boutique Fleming Hotel. Their involvement will be a fantastic boost to increase Ask Ting Ting’s awareness!

I wore this beautiful green dress from Shanghai Tang’s latest collection and it fitted perfectly! Everyone was introducing me as Sarah/Ting Ting which I figure will take some getting used to. There is already so much buzz from other hotels inquiring about which city we’ll do next.

The great thing about Ramadan is rounding up the girls for a major catch-up session for buka puasa. Since I am not Muslim, I don’t fast- but I respect my girlfriends for using this time as reflection (and starvation to lose weight). You start to notice how delirious they get after not eating/drinking for more than 12 hours or how necessary it is to have dates lying around by 7:15pm!

I always consider myself quite lucky when it comes to forging new friendships in every city I’ve lived in. There are a few reasons why Malaysia will always be home to me and having these amazing girls supporting me and cheering me on is defn one of them!

I know I’ve had the opportunity to grow up in a Canadian school system that educates you on many sexual health issues at a very age. As akward as it was to sit through Sex Education as early as 11 years old, we touched on issues like incest, molestation, rape and understanding what our rights were. High school was much more explicit when it came to Sex Education but it was necessary to understand the repercussions of sexual activity, especially for some experimenting at such a young age.

You can’t hide the world from the young any more, you have to teach them to adapt and trust that they can make proper decisions guarded with information to empower them. I just wish the government would stop scapegoating and point fingers at “immoral” things and deal with the fact that the spread of information will always supercede a single (nonsensical) opinion.

I stand behind the need for sex education in all schools in Malaysia, regardless of religion!

Porn a major reason behind baby dumping, say cops

KUALA LUMPUR: Widespread access to pornography and weakened family ties have led to an increase in baby dumping in the past five years, according to Federal CID director Comm Datuk Seri Bakri Zinin.

“Youth today can easily have access to such material online, even through their mobile phones.

“Parents also need to guide and educate their children on sexuality,” he said yesterday at Bukit Aman.

Comm Bakri also urged the public to work closely with the police in identifying such cases.

Utusan columnist tells critics to ‘go home’

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 15 — Controversial Mingguan Malaysia columnist Dr Mohd Ridhuan Tee Abdullah continued his weekly diatribe against non-Malays, saying today that minorities who cannot respect the special position of Islam and the Malays should return to their homeland.

The Muslim convert also sneered that Malaysia should be renamed “Cinasia” or “Indiasia” if every demand by non-Muslims was accommodated when commenting on Centre for Policy Initiatives (CPI) columnist Helen Ang’s recent piece “Enforcing NEP on minority religions.”

“Will the practice of prayer (doa) cause the heart of the non-Muslims to melt and embrace Islam? She really (Helen Ang) hates Islam. Prayer (doa) is part of the Malay Muslim culture.

“Why would we want to delete all of our identity for merely wanting to accommodate others. If that’s the case, just change the name of Malaysia to Cinasia or Indiasia. How strange it is this species, never cease trying to challenge the position of Islam and Malays,” he wrote in his Sunday column headlined “Jangan terlalu berani mencabar” (Don’t be so brave to challenge).

In her piece, Ang questioned why non-Muslim religious societies were banned in national schools.

Ang added that the restriction on non-Muslim fellowship in schools has stopped many Chinese parents from sending their children to national schools.

“If I were a mother, I would never wish to subject my vulnerable child to a bellicose environment where my race, and the traditions and faith beliefs I’ve imparted to my son or daughter are disparaged,” she said.

In response, Tee said that the country does not want Ang’s children, whether legal or illegitimate, a favourite line he continually implies about the Chinese.

“She does not need to send her ‘children’ (if any were legitimate) to national school, if she is not confident with the national school or she is scared that her ‘children’ will become Malays. Her ‘children’ are not needed here.

“Just send her ‘children’ to schools in her homeland or overseas. The presence of ‘children’ are not needed here,” he said in a personal attack on Ang, who has also had two police reports lodged against her over her article.

Tee also said that Ang should migrate to the West if she is obsessed with their culture.

“I suggest that she migrate to another country, if this country does not provide her with any freedom. She should go to her country of origin or to the West because there is more ‘freedom’ there to build the biggest church and the highest statue in the world and have vernacular schools as well as having free sex.

“I do not think that she is proud of her ancestors because she prefers to use a white man’s name even though her eyes are sepet,” he said.

Tee stressed that non-Muslims should be grateful because the Malays have been very tolerant.

“Let us compare how the situation of Muslims living in countries where non-Muslims are the majority. Tolerance is very high. Muslims do not pose a problem for non-Muslims, except when their rights taken and exploited like in southern Thailand, Philippines and Palestine. Malay Muslims in Singapore do not make any noise when their land was stolen. They just sat quietly even though their Islamic and Malay rights are slowly taken away by the Chinese community.

“See our tolerance here. For me because the Malays embraced Islam 600 years ago, non-Muslims can live comfortably in this blessed land. The Islamic values have taught the Malays to protect the rights of non-Muslims and to not oppress them,” he added.

On Monday, Malay right-wing group Perkasa today lodged a police report against Ang for allegedly questioning the rights of the Malays and the position of Islam in the country.

Big thank you to Choonster(and the rest of VIBES) for being a darling to work with, Henry for always making hosting super fun, and Levi’s for another great opportunity! The event was held at Studio ROM and the space was large enough to occupy the bevy of media attendants around. After the event was done, all of us had some fun and did some serious partying at the sound of DJ Goldfish! WHEEEEE!!

Working with Levi’s is always amazing and what they do for the jean industry is always pioneering. As much as it is about style, comfort and fit, they find better ways to make jeans work for the average lady with curves and without curves. After listening to over 60K women around the world, they’ve found a way to measure a woman’s curves and have them fit into the perfect size jean!

With many celebrities getting fitted for their own pair of jeans, all shapes and sizes would soon find out if they are a Bold curve, Demi curve or a Slight curve. I thought my bootylicious ass was a Bold curve, but much to my surprise I was a Slight curve (i musta lost some inches here and there)

Since my family moved to Vancouver almost 20 years ago, Mama Lian only makes her way back to the land of rubber and tin every 5 years. Luckily, I was around this time she made her way down to KL.

I’ve been trying to find time to spend with her inbetween flights, events and what nots just to sit in the house with her or spend the night. Out of the rest of my fam, I’ve been away for the longest. Been a lone ranger for the past 7 years and I forget how its like to have my mom around, even if its just for a couple weeks at a time.

I’m trying not to take it for granted, hopefully I can save up enough to get her and I a trip to Hawaii, that’s something she’s always wanted!! Be patient mom!!
