Webcamming

(Don’t mind me camwhoring with my American Boy)

Been getting restless recently -being sidetracked and thinking of other things to do with my life. I managed to spend time with my gf J. She’s a childhood friend of mine that I’ve had for ages! We get into our own zones but when we chill together its always a sense of comfort and familiarity.

I spent the day trying to wake up since I’ve launched my website (www.sarah-lian.com) and trying to iron out some kinks. Unlike the Babe Bits Episode suggesting that I do party lots, its a true fact that I’m trying to change about myself. More nights at home and more self-improvement techniques than debauchery at a random club. I also picked up my Levi’s Curves outfit for Thursday and I’m stoked to rock this outfit! Thanks Levi’s!

Also - I’ll be at Youth 09 (http://youthmalaysia.com/youth09/index.php) launching Gua TV with my other hosts! Speaking of Gua TV, check out this hilarious clip of Street Talk. I do believe that this was a very biased episode since I work for Gua and I’ve always got my Exec Producer and Gen Manager rooting for me! Its hilarious how Ben and Liang are singing “Deck the Halls with Sarah Lian”…. definitely a new one!! But it made me laugh so hard, especially Izham’s comments!!

Remember to pick up a copy of Cleo Magazine January 2009 and check out my article!

Bye, Bye T

Me and T - Langkawi

(New Years’ on Chenang Beach in Pulau Langkawi)

My life is totally a work in progress. I’m starting to write blogs on this one now.. I need to wean myself off Xanga for the sake of holding up my dotcom site and all the silly attachments that come out of it. I usually like to clump in all of the stuff that I’ve been doing but I guess categorizing my thoughts would be a great way for people to keep track of the crap I do instead of my random rants of family and friends.

Today I had a really hard time waking up because I slept so late the night before. It was T’s last nite out and although I know I’m going to see her, just knowing that she’s not a phonecall away or a taxi ride away kind of makes me sad. I’ve really lucked out with friends when I move to new cities. It’s not exactly #1 on the list of things to have before you move, but its probably a close second. T and A (omg, why did I not think of this sooner) came into my life when I was thinking… hmmm I think i’m gonna need good friends and they can’t all be guys.

We held hands at Heritage Mansion and said, “we’re going to be best friends!”

Sure enough, we were, for the past year… crying, laughing, goofing around and travelling and living the good life. The kinds of memories we’ve shared, on beds and even showers have reminded me how great it is to have friends around. T grew up in the States and A in the UK. Its a nice blend to my Canadian-ness but we gel like PB+J or as we’d say in Malaysia, the Sambal to your Nasi Lemak. I’ve had so many highs and lows and I’m so thankful that I’ve had these girls to keep me in check!

Had a fab send off dinner at Ciccio (on Changkat Bukit Bintang) and stuck around Nero Vivo and later on carried at Werners. Of course our dinner always includes talking about men and a certain boy that I should meet since my dating life has been questionable. So after much convincing on both sides, they managed to lure the fella to come by and I ended up talking to him most of the night. Tis a pity he’s only staying for a couple days and I’ll probably never see him again but I cut the night short when everyone was moving over to Sultan Lounge for another birthday that I didn’t want to crash. Instead, I went home and did some skyping before I had to wake up early for a cover shoot the next day. Anyways, gonna be really sad that I won’t have my T anymore… I get ridiculously attached!! WAAAAAAAA—–

I’m busy trying to scan my feature on The Star Newspaper in their Motoring Section for the month. I also have pictures of my Langkawi trip and Hong Kong trip to post.. (but I’ll try to rock my postcard method style) - Hopefully all that can be done when I can! What a great way to start off the year, eh?

You’re a N00B.

My December

2009 Preview

This is the last month - a year in review is much too cliche but I will probably have something come out in January about my YEAR IN REVIEW. If fashion school has taught me anything, its the power of PDF. Working on my publication has been a real chore but since I no longer design much - it will be a cause I can challenge myself with.

I’ve allocated ONE ENTIRE WEEK to work on myself and my self-improvement, self-reflection and self-projection. I can be selfish, I can love myself wholly with the marketing tools that every is starting to realize - is readily available. Yes, I admit I’m a sellout to being a shameless marketing tool. I’ll slow down I promise. But for now, I’m raging full speed ahead as fast as I can without running out of steam.

I’ve got my mandarin lesson tomorrow and I’ve been trying to practice writing but its hilarious how I still write like a 10 year old. Hey, at least I can write ok???? It’s only Tuesday and I feel like there is such a long week ahead of me. I managed to start the week with a workout - how wonderful that truly feels to give my body some attention. Then I dedicated a few hours to Tej, for packing, who’s heading back to the States temporarily. I just picked up a cd of my images from the last shoot I did a few weeks back. Its a lot of running back and forth, picking up cheques, making phone calls, negotiating deals, rocking events, slumbering sober. Who knew that this is what I’d end up with after all the hard work I’ve put into making my life happen for me.

Hardwork is really under-rated. Like the famous Thomas Jefferson said - “The harder I work, the luckier I get!” Nothing I’ve done so far has really come from luck. It’s making my life happen for myself. I can’t land on covers without being in Malaysia so there’s nothing “lucky” about it! My hard work is going to focus on 2009- to be less lazy and more focused on my short term and long-term goals.

I’m designing collaterals for my Resume, Portfolio, Profile, Biz Cards, Reel, and etc… working on my tagline which can’t seem to compete with 2008’s Ready to Unleash the Mui. But be prepared to see something more daring yet intimate, bold yet relatable. Thank you again for supporting, for reading and for sharing your life stories and comments with me. It gets scary trying to be fearless all the time, but I leave it up to God and my daddy always tells me the same. The emails I get have been incredibly sweet. You guys that are rooting for me actually do make my day and make me smile even more.

Thank you for an incredible year thus far …but you ain’t seen nothing yet!

Melium Housewarming Party

So it’s December now.

The last month of the year and definitely a quieter morning than I’m used to. This past week was Malaysia’s Fashion Week (November 26-29) and I had the opportunity to do a little walk with my bestie Azura in Melium’s Housewarming Party held at The Gardens. Unfortunately, I didn’t have much time to catch all the shows and make too many appearances because the season finale for The Ultimate Prom Nite was scheduled to shoot on Friday.

I did catch the back end of Malaysian Designer Key Ng’s show on Wednesday and Sofira’s Collection on Saturday - plus a cool interview with Fashion TV! I think it’ll be a little while til I ever get around to designing my own collection. However I need to focus on my acting career first! Especially since I dedicated the last 4 years to fashion.

I’m planning out my trip to go back to Vancouver. I wonder if I should postpone it or just get it over with. It’s been a serious struggle deciding this and it’s left me with many sleepless nights. I don’t know what to do especially with so many positive things going on with me in this side of the world. So many great people and so many great productions I’ve worked on.

I’m currently working on my “Annual” and also looking after my collaterals for the new year. There are so many dfferent things I’m trying out for myself. Hopefully everyone will enjoy it! :)

The Ultimate Prom Nite Finals

Ultimate Prom Nite

Have you guys been watching?? It’s really been an incredible experience watching the show and seeing how the editing has turned out. There was probably a huge chunk of raw footage with contestants, hosts and judges that never quite made it! Nonetheless, its been very entertaining and I’m glad to see that we’ve been getting a good response.

We just had a Nivea Press Conference announcing the finalists of The Ultimate Prom Nite. After searching the country far and wide for our potential Prom King and Queens, we’ve narrowed it down to the last 6 contestants. Make sure you vote for your favourite ones!

I’m prepping for the prom nite and its going to be quite interesting as we have a few special guests invited to perform and attend! Trust me, it’ll be a night to remember!

Event-Veuve Clicquot
Sending love back to those who have made us look gorgeous that night with Dawn Jeremiah

The night started rainy with crazy traffic getting from my house to town in a beautiful Mini Cooper! Being in a car for over an hour would be quite horrible except for the fact that I was in good company, chatting with Ms. Dawn herself about the career opps in this side of the biz and our wonderful driver who was delightfully welcome to eavesdrop in our conversation.
We got dropped off at Imperial Hotel for an added bonus to our invites! Hair was sponsored by Centro Salon in The Gardens and make-up from Lancome. Another notable beauty was of course Atilia in her bubbly self whacking an entire bowl of soup (shared with a friend) just before we left - sometimes I wonder where people really pack their pounds!

Veuve Clicquot presented us with two bottles of champagne to take home and I managed to bump into a few friends before I checked out early!

More pics after the jump.

Event Update

Event-Breitling

One of the new things I’ve learnt about this side of the world is the necessity to be seen in the scene. No wonder people are so quick to jump infront of the camera and take a group shot with other celeb friends. It has been a little difficult for me to adjust because I’m in a town where all of my friends are new and when I say new, I mean only a few months old. Being the new kid in town isn’t new, but it gets a little tiring sometimes :( Whether there will be coverage of some of the events I’ve attended or worked on,  I have been somewhat working a circuit these past couple of weeks and that alone has tired me out completely!

Let’s start with Bebe’s Launch at One Utama! They dressed me up in this sexy number that I was just itching to purchase after the event! I had the pleasure of hosting the Breitling Chronomatic-49 Launch at Zetabar. I didn’t have to do too much but I was given a watch to wear for the rest of the night and that made me feel quite special. Now if I could only work it in my contract that I get free gifts as well! Last Friday, I worked on Tang+Co’s Fall/Winter 2008 Fashion Show and looking at the clothes on the models definitely, makes a difference! I have my eye on a few things but I’m always drawn to nice jackets and coats and it doesn’t make much sense since I will never have to wear one in Malaysia.

I’ll be dressed to impress at the Veuve Clicquot party tomorrow night with hair et makeup sponsored! The Melium: Style Rocks event at MOS Euphoria last night was definitely fun. I got to mingle with my old friends and new friends and take a few photos with everyone. Of course there are always too many things happening in town that one cannot attend all.

Maybe I’ll catch you folks in the next one that I attend!
